The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) is a state-owned broadcasting company, based in the UK. Established in 1922, the company is primarily engaged in offering television, radio and online media services. The BBC derives its income from license fees. It operates ten national TV channels and regional programming, ten national radio stations, 40 local radio stations and the bbc.co.uk website.
In the year to end-March 2013, the BBC achieved revenues of GBP 5,102 million (annual growth of 0.3%) and net profit of GBP 328 million (annual decline of 15.7%).
