Telstra Corporation Ltd and its subsidiaries provide basic access, local call, national long distance and international telephone services to homes and businesses in Australia.  It owns and operates analogue and AMPS mobile telecommunications networks and a digital GSM mobile telecommunications network.  It also provides public payphone services and has close to 25,000 payphones.  The company has 9.2 million fixed line and 9.7 million mobile subscribers (2008).

Telstra offers white pages directories, yellow pages directories, voice directory services, electronic and media services and speciality products and services in Australia.  The company provides its directory services through Sensis Pty Ltd.  

The company offers customers Internet access and online, content and web hosting services.  It provides a range of broadband services from dial-up access to sophisticated intranet solutions.

The company offers entertainment services through its 50% joint venture with FOXTEL, which broadcasts approximately 30 television channels.

The company provides data transmission services such as leased lines, ISDN, and facsimile products (faxstream services).  It offers carrier services to its network, facilities and infrastructure.  Telstra also provides advertising and search and information services (through Sensis, a directory and search company).

In the year to end-June 2011, Telstra Corporation achieved revenues of AUD 25.3 billion (annual growth of 1.1%) and net profit of AUD 3.2 billion (annual decline of 17.5%).
