Shaw Communications Inc is a diversified communications company based in Canada.  Established in 1966,the company provides broadband cable television, Internet, digital telephone, telecommunications, satellite DTH and other media services. Its activities are segmented into three broad divisions: cable, satellite and media. The combined portfolio of the company offerings include cable television, internet, digital phone, direct to home and Satellite services, and its television broadcasting operations.

 

The company added about 35,000 internet subscribers to its total customer base in 2012 and as a result over 86% of its basic subscribers were taking internet subscription by then. About 131,000 digital phone lines were added in the fiscal year (2012) resulting in total digital phone subscriber base of 1.3 million (61% of basic subscribers were taking the service). The company had over 1.9 million digital customers by August, 2012 while about 1,000 customers subscribed to the Shaw Direct DTH service. There were about 2.2 million cable tv subscribers for the company by August, 2012. 

 

In the year to end-August 2012, Shaw Communications achieved revenues of CAD 4.99 billion, recording annual growth of 5.4%, with net income of CAD 761 million.
